The last ep of the finial 8 will show Tony with a cigar and a big smile on his face watching a new family of ducks in his pool, as he get the respect and maybe power of a New York Family.

I think mixed with the last 8 will be a civil war in New York with that Capo and Phil, Johnny will ask T to help out Phil. Phil will get killed and T will be leading the family with Johnnys blessing, and will run Johnnys family for him.

Because belived it or not some mob bosses do stay at the helm until old age. The show will end as just another day in the complex live of Tony Soprano.

And as a side line to T's story the show has been as much a rise and fall of Chris as it has been Tony. I think the finial 8 will see Chris betraying Tony, and even tho T loves him like a son he will have to kill him. Probs will be an amazing scene with Just T and Chris and a gun. Chris wont like it that T his helping Phil and could side with the Capo.

Well thats how I would like to see it end! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">

T-WOP? Is this some bored/board, outdated,
denigrating referral to Tony as a "WOP?" Chase
needs a chaser like NOW.

Being born Italian cannot be erased by
simply becoming a Baptist. That's just
head-in-the-sand, ludicrous, ostrich vision.

Bobby Baccala as a "front Boss" makes perfect sense,
miniature railroads et al. In the contemporary mob,
it's going to be Tony and Janice manipulating him,
the obedient servant, behind the scenes.

Li- your take on the final episode sounds really plausible. It hadn't occurred to me that he could find a way to maintain peace with NY/Johnny Sacs with Phil dead- except like you say, if that occurred out of T's control in a mob war. I still wish it could be where Tony, Carm and family find some sort of redemption by cleaningup their act and disappearing to Witness Protection or France. But realistically, your version sounds more likely.

I could see Christopher dying and then his kid being born... coming full circle because Christopher's father was killed when he was a young boy. Either Tony and Carmella would help take care of Chris' kid or Tony's going to go into witness protection. I can see Chris dying, Tony getting busted (it's a long time coming), and him realizing that nobody else in the family really gives a damn about him, etc.

could this be my joke theory coming true.... that junior is in fact faking his illness as a plot against tony? what was the only major events in season one 1. tony and junior had major beef over the pussy melanga hit at vesuvio (when tony burnt vesuvio1) 2. junior became boss (and technically speaking still is boss) 3. tried to kill tony

remember in the first episode of season 6 when jun shot tony he yelled something at him about PUSSY MELANGA stil underlying beef going on... now to take down a don with as many connections as tony you would need a pretty good scheme.

also remember feetch and junior are old buddies from the old school days... and feetch knows that tony set him up to go back into the can.

final scene series ends... tony is dead on the pavement killed by 2 of juniors close associates... and out of the dust and smoke walks uncle jun with pin stripe suit and god father hat on cigar in hand.

again its not something I truly believe its more of a joke theory ive always had... but you never know.

Hi Mikey, and welcome to the forum:-)

I recall that others have asked themselves similar questions about Junior faking his dementia, but I've never bought into that theory at all. The irony is that he started out faking it, with Tony's help, back in season 4 when the object was to avoid trial on the initial RICO charges.

There are a lot of reasons I discount the possibility, including the objective medical testing that might confirm his disease (that doctor back in season 5 talked about Junior's ministrokes and "infarcs", and MRIs can certainly reveal or confirm whether there was significant blockage in the vessels of his brain). But the biggest telltale to me is the life Junior has been leading the last couple of years, especially since the shooting. I don't think it's a life that he would deliberately choose over standing trial and even going to prison.

Hesh reminded us at the beginning that Junior is driven "in toto by his insecurities" and related need for status within his adopted culture (the mob). He's all about being viewed as the top dog, the strongest of the strong, the guy with the best combination of brains and balls in the family. It mattered so much to him that he wouldn't admit Tony was the de facto boss even though he was offered immunity from prosecution in exchange for doing so.

So I can't imagine that Junior would ever deliberately pursue a path of behavior that shows him as a witless, feeble, pathetic man who misplaces his teeth, can't remember where he hid money, needs help with daily hygenic and other routines, confuses his nephew with a rival that's been dead for years, and that keeps him in a confinement worse (for him) than prison. As much as Junior and other mob guys might fear "the can", they would still turn heads there, still command a modicum of respect or fear based on their titles and the power of their associations to reach anywhere outside -- or inside -- prison. They would have much greater fear and disdain IMO for a place that features loonies who pee on themselves, chant nonsesne, drool, stare off in near catatonia, or otherwise manifest serious psychological disease. There's no dignity or status at all in that.

The other thing that goes along with this is how desperate Junior has seemed to get out of his present confinement. He begged his lawyer not to leave him there, much like a toddler being left at daycare for the first time begs not to be abandoned by his mother. And he showed similar emotions when both Bobby and AJ showed up to "visit". I think his desperation is very real and that he would end it by going to trial (on the RICO stuff and/or the charges related to Tony's shooting) if he truly was faking the mental incompetence.

So I think Junior is destined to remain in the kind of place he's in now until he dies. I do wonder, however, if Tony will ever visit him, almost in some kind of act of exorcism. I think if Junior were to take seriously ill and be on the verge of death that Tony would go.

When the season 6 poster came out, I was among those inclined to read something into the fact that Junior was at the extreme edge of the frame, partially cut off, as in "he's almost out of the picture." So I still think there's a good chance that Junior will die in the final episodes, and we'll find out whether Tony does in fact see him beforehand.

Junior has mentioned more than once that he did not act alone in his shooting of Tony. I can see Bobby and Janice confusing Junior, and setting the trap. The fact that it WAS Pussy Malenga's name, even suggests that Bobby and Janice have been feeding Junior stories to GET him worked up against Tony.

Remember how upset Janice was when Tony bought her Johnny Sac's house? She seemed like she wanted to apologize for something.

I love the comment that Janice is acting out as Livia. I believe Tony will end up confronting his past through his sister.

Great post everyone!
