Re: Episode Review and General Comments

I'd have to admit that after watching the show for a second time, and following with reading the discussion here that the choice of the word "filler" was perhaps too harsh. I still think that the pacing of the show is slower now due to the heavy focus we are seeing on side characters, and thus the specific episodes are suffering some.

And I suppose what I meant by filler is really that Chase is in the process of placing the puzzle pieces on the floor, but not ready to start putting that puzzle together. So this (and the past two episodes prior to it at least) have dragged in ways that previous episodes and/or seasons have not.

Yet I also agree that there is most certainly a reason that Chase has decided to move down each of these roads, and thus I will certainly give him the benefit of the doubt. However, my thoughts expressed in the "Season as a whole" thread over in the Kitchen Sink remain as they were when I wrote them, and this episode only strengthens that.

It was a good episode (if not strong overall, IMHO) with some major information presented. But what that information means, and how it effects Tony can presently only be guessed at, and I hesitate to do such for fear of looking too far into things and in the process lose that simple pleasure of enjoying each episode by itself. That has become harder to do as of late. But that's all been covered in the other thread.

Still and all, good thoughts everyone.

Just a little tidbit re: the stolen cell phone.

When Vito made his call to Marie on the stolen cell, the name that appeared on the caller ID was "Thad McCone" a very unsual name. Once again I think Chase is playing with us viewers as that name is an anagram for "Catch Me Don."

Also, I believe the cell phone will be a major factor into Vito's demise. Carlo claimed his investigator can track and find someone by the "corn in his $hit." Therefore, I believe they will check Marie's incoming call records and see cell phone activity from New Hampshire, That will send them on the trail of "His Gayness" Vito. OR Vito's son will tell Uncle Phil that he spoke on the phone to Vito and again a trace of the phone records will reveal the call from New Hampshire.

Well spotted bcorsale. But if that were the case (and maybe i'm being a bit to pedantic here), wouldnt they have written the script to the extent that it was a woman who had her cellphone stolen?

"Hatty McCone" - - - "Catch Me Tony"

Any takers

In a rare editing mistake: Anyone else notice that when Tony and AJ argue in the house about selling the drums, AJ has shorter hair, then they go out onto the boat AJ's hair is long again, and next time we see him its back to short....

One other point: Christopher mentions outside Satriale's that "The Feds are all up my ass". What is that about? Do we know anything about the Feds and Chris?

I was wondering about that too. I think Christpoher says that he would understand it if they were "up his ass" for business, but "not for political correctness". I took it as a passing reference to the fact that the feds (Agent Harris) may be continuing to harahngue him about being on the lookout for terrorists.

Billymac: interesting. I had interpreted Chris' line to mean that he would be willing to take the risk of doing the hit on Vito for business, but not for political correctness. But I just reviewed it, and I think you are right about it being the feds that are on Chris for political correctness. I guess there's some off-screen pressure coming from the FBI on Chris about the Arabs.

I just love this forum. Kudos to all of yoU!

I loved this week too.

Only thing I can add that's a little different is that after Tony 'braggin' about the baggette in his pants 24/7 and his tenuous escapeds with Carm...I got the feeling that he couldn't get it up and that's why he halted everthing wtih Julianna. I got the feeling that his 'trouble' might be because of guilt with Carm and his changing ways, but it was the actual 'not being able to perform' that stopped him?

anyone else?

Jaded Sunshine:

resoundingly NO! I believe Tony was all set to go, and physically able (erect) to bang Julianna, but her act of unbuttoning the buttons that Carmella had put together (and symbollically Carmella (like the buttons) holding him together_ made him WANT to stop.

I thought myself as soon as I saw Carmella buttoning the shirt for his "real estate deal" that he would be unable to handle the guilt of having those very same buttons undone by non-Carmella hands. I wish I'd been more certain about it and be able to brag that I KNEW he wouldn't go through with it, but I didn't. All I know is that those buttons, and Carmella fastening them, means to ME that Carmella is holding Tony together.
