Let Us Know Where You Are From And A Little About Yourself

1
We all have our reasons for loving the Sopranos. Many times we have geographical, professional or personal connections with the show, a character, a scene, the music, or a storyline that makes it that much more thrilling for us to enjoy the realism of the show.

This is the place to let other members know a little bit about yourself. Tell us all where you are from and any other information you may wish to share to let us know why you have an affinity for the Sopranos.

Since I started the thread, I'll take my own challenge and go first.

I live in Southwestern New Jersey, near Philadelphia and about 20 minutes from the Pine Barrens (no, I have not seen the Russian). I am about 1 hour away from Newark and the greater Soprano areas of North Jersey. So it is my residence in the Garden State, and my familiarity with all of the locations coupled with the realistic portrayal of the NJ "attitude" that made me fall in love with the show.

I am also treated to alot of mob related activity in Philly and Atlantic City on a constant basis. The realism of the mob activities on the Sopranos keeps me coming back every week.

I love mob movies and books. It all started with the best movie ever..........Goodfellas.

My husband is an Italian...Im French. My last name now is same as Artie Buccos last name is real life is and my maiden name is the actress who plays Livias real last name. Strange huh? Maybe not.

I live in Illinois about 15 minutes from St. Louis.

"Please stop feeding the dog with the food from the table with the plate on top of it. " - Karen Hill from Goodfellas.

I live in the SW suburbs of Chicago, but grew up on Chicago's South side. We have had plenty of Mob activity of our own in Chicago as well. Tony "Big Tuna" Accardo, Joseph "Joey Doves" Aiuppa, and Sam Giancana, to name a few. One of my favorite crime shows was about the Chicago mob, "Crime Story", and Dennis Farina was a real Chicago cop (and looked the part).

My family then moved south of Chicago to Crete. Crete was a small town, about four or five thousand, but it had one unusal claim to fame. The Chicago Heights mob regularly dumped their bodies in Crete, mainly in car trunks, giving this small family town a very high murder rate!

Hi: My real name is Bob. I was born and raised a New Yawker (I'm allowed to say that) and yes, I drink cawfee. Originally from Staten Island, I eventually wound up in Brooklyn. Yeah, I know, most went from Brooklyn to Staten Island, I did it the opposite way.

I'm now retired and reside in Las Vegas. Yes, people actually live here. It's not just "The Strip."

Looking forward to reading more of your bios.

BTW: I have met and known some members of the Mothers and Fathers Italian Association.

Detective Hunt: Hello, my name is AL.

The Room: Hi AL!

I live in Atlanta, GA. Born and raised there with a slight three years spent freezing my butt off in Chicago. I'm 33 and work for a law firm, and write in my spare time. I also enjoy watching quite a bit of film and find the Sopranos just about the only television show that genuinely follows that same style.

I used to watch quite a bit of television growing up, but today I find most of it is crap. That and having to sit through commercials (which I detest) made me gravitate towards HBO's programming many moons ago. I first discovered The Sopranos near the end of season two and have been an avid follower since. There's simply nothing like it anywhere else on the dial.

Hello.

My names Phil, I'm from S.W. MO. 24 yrs old. fell in love with the sopranos in season 1. I didn't have cable for season 2 so i had to catch reruns when i could. caught up on all the ones i missed on on demand through my cable leading up to this season. seen pretty much all of the episodes at one time or another. without a doubt its one of the best uses of film in the history of media. the conversations with melfi about tony and his family actually gives me insight into my own realationships i love those convos. but i have to admit it was the "family" stuff that really got me hooked. when pussy wore that wire to tony's house... i wanted to shoot him. that's about it. oh yeah, and jamie lynn's my dream girl. she's absolutly gorgeous.

HEY WISSY....ALBERT FOR PRES. GO RED BIRDS!!!!!!

My name is Denise and my username reflects the passion I have for Pit Bulls and the fight for BSL.

My mom is Sicilian and my dad is English/Scottish. Believe it or not, my father has always had a fascination with la costa nostra. He had two restaurants in downtown Chicago (btw, where I am from) and he had his insurance through Pat Marcy and John D'Arco who were two famous mobsters during the 60's and 70's. My dad loves to tell the story about a health inspector that came to my dad's restaurant and gave him a very difficult time. My father immediately went to Pat Marcy and told him about it and the inspector never gave my father a hard time ever again. He also met Joey Aiuppa, Phil "The Waiter" Ricca, and a few others when he had his resturants. So, that is where my fascination with la costra nostra came into play. My mother was never fond of my father's obsession with la costa nostra and she frowns upon mob movies and when The Sopranos first aired she was completely opposed to it. Now, she watches it with my father but still has not gotten used to the language they use.
