Gloria in "Amour Fou" vs. Ralph in "Whoever Did This"

1
The scene from "Amour Fou" where Gloria provokes Tony into attacking her is staged almost exactly like his murder of Ralph in "Whoever Did This". Gloria and Ralph, both much smaller than Tony, fight back with a kitchen knife, only to be disarmed. Tony also slams both of them up against a wall, and then onto the ground, while holding them by the throats. I believe I've heard that David Chase had Ralph's entire two-season character arc planned out from his introduction, so this had to be intentional.
Taps, lights out, 2200 hours. What's missing? Give up? Television.
