Good article, I found this old interview with him from GQ done in 2004 which is a good read.

It's especially hard to read this line in the article:

he tries to do a little less drinking these days and to eat a little bit better. "I ran my body pretty hard for a long time," he says, "and I'm wondering if all of a sudden I'm going to get nailed in the next couple of years, so I want to take care of myself a wee bit better."

Oh my.....I read James did have a substance abuse problem when he divorced his wife. You just never know. There are some people that put their bodies through the ringer and live to an old age and others stop living recklessly and die an early death. :(
