Hell, yeah. As a matter of fact I see the religious-cultural along the following continuum:

Jews/Catholics____________________________Protestants

This feels counterintuitive to many I realize, in that Cs and Ps are both Christian. However, psychologically Catholics are constructed much more similarly to Js than to Ps...similar emotionality, in-group thinking, guilt, ritualism, instructional rigor, etc. In many parts of American (Protestant/rural) society, there is a perception that Cs and Js are the same entity.

BTW did anyone hear Lorraine Braco's interview on Fresh Air? She described this very thing in terms of being hired by Scorcese to play Henry Hill's Jewish wife in Goodfellas...there is just some essence shared by the two religious cultures.

To me on mob boss getting arrested at the end of last season, and another in the hospital at the end of this season is more about the potential outcomes for Tony than a NY/NJ war.

He got his job with the death of a boss and trying to prevent the incarceration of another boss. Phil had been in prison 20 yrs and probably got a 'pass' for his sexual behavior there. That's why it was so funny how angry he was with Vito (self loathing)

Chase keeps repeating these 'options' for Tony (dealth; prison). This whole season Tony started near dealth, we hoped he would change, but he didn't. He thought about it again at the end of the season when he visited Phil, and when he thought the death may not be his own.

Even though the show was disappointing on some level that's where I thought Chase was leading us monkeys.

Yet another puking scene (Julianna) with relation to the mob life..

You're absolutely correct. That was very perceptive. Add to that Jewish culture is 5,000 years old and Catholic culture is 2,000 years old. That's a lot of history to belong to. When I was a kid I had a good friend who was a Jew. I used to jokingly say when we needed a good dose of guilt, we'd go to his home, and when we needed a dose of shame we'd go to mine, LOL.

Catholics are Christians? Who'd'a thunk it? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

Having to do, perhaps, with the fact that Jesus was a Jew? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Seriously, from all I've read and know (my sister went to a girls' high school with the daughters and granddaughters of mobsters), modern mobsters have very little concern for religion. Catholicism just isn't an issue for the contemporary mob.

No Eggs = No Death

I think Catholicism in general is not as dominant as it used to be in today's society. I believe part of it is due to all of the scandal behind it.

On another note, I did not think we were going to see any death on Sunday because there were no eggs. The second you see or hear eggs on The Sopranos, death is usually looming, but since there wa sno mention of eggs, I did not think there would be any death.

There was mention of an egg. In the scene where Kelli is telling "dopey" Chris about being superstitious regarding the decoration of the baby's room. He replies: "Remember the penguin movie, how you cried? You sit on an egg for months, one little thing goes wrong, you're left with nothing."

So I guess the "egg theory" didn't work for this episode. Or is it just eating eggs? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D">

Great catch bob/bcorsale! -

perhaps the penguin egg reference manifests itself into Kelli miscarrying perhaps, or witn Chris getting so f'ed up on junk, that he loses Kelli and by default...his baby/male heir he so craves which would REALLY accelerate the downward spiral.

Its obvious Kelli isnt a 'charachter' in herself, merely a barometer against issues in Chris' charachter development and this could be a part of it perhaps.
