I have already posted my thoughts in the "General Comments" thread concerning the fact that some may be dissapointed with the snail-like resolution of Vito's storyline. But I must admit I really did get a kick out of the double-entendre dialouge between Vito and the diner cook when they were discussing motorcycles: The cook tells Vito he “rides a fatboy”. Hi Janice! Fly was right, I was referring to 10...as for Ravel, absolutely nothing against him as a composer. And the Sop's musical choices are usually dead on fabulous. It was the whole perfect romance thing.....gosh, we were only missing the scene where they smoked a cigarette after. You know, I think OE might be right....DC is pushing us with this for a reason.

Having Vito found in NH and then whacked is WAY too predictable. Watching this Vito story emerge when Finn caught him with the security guard and then following it over several more issues, I want to see an ending that is unconventional.

Vito was Tony's TOP earner. Whenever you hear the line "it's business" in any organized crime tv show or movie, that means, "It's Money".

Tony isn't your typical "old school" head of the family. For god sakes, he's seeing a shrink.

Chase needs to use that imagination of his and get Vito back to New Jersey. (Perhaps, Tony could drive to NH himself and talk this out with Vito, having Vito promise to go back to his family and never to be with another man again)

Tony then will get the guys together and tell them hands off Vito. He's going to make me and all of us a lot of money and no one is to touch him.

If Phil wants to whack him in New Jersey, that could trigger the all out war that we know Chase is going to puruse before the series ends.

If Vito gets whacked in this manner, I have no problem with the storyline, but if somebody whacks him in bed with the short order cook, I'll be majorly annoyed!

the problem is that Vito was a total underpart before the BJ.if it was paulie, chris, Patsy, even Larry Boy Baresi or whoever...but no, here comes vito with 5+ episodes of attempts to shine.its lacking a bit of the usual thrill since vito didnt have one episode about him before.

Exactly! When Vito came on the scene (season 3) he was a small character and had been for 2 seasons - hell even the BJ scene was small (but shocking as hell) and now on the LAST season a background character is on the forefront and takes considerable time away from silvio, paulie and even christopher. I wouldn't mind at all if us fans had numerous seasons left but that's not the case, unfortunately.

This IS the last season and all the major characters (aj and meadow included) need to get all their sh-t tied up or at least as much as possible.

vito is one of the manliest of them all, he doesnt have those weird traits like chris or paulie.so if we want to see him going from an iceblock to a 'human being' it will take a while(maybe he will be just as weird as the rest of them one day), maybe we can watch him one episode just sleeping?

Rewatching this episode, from what i gather they're trying to get across that Johnny Cakes is sort of a thrill-seeker, which is why he volunteer fire fights and rides a motorcycle. And i think Vito, as a mobster, is supposed to kind of give off an aura of danger, which attracts JC. Joe Gannascoli didn't quite have the acting chops to give off that vibe the way Gandolfini could, but the director and cinematographer did their best to frame him as such.

Also, I just found out that the actor who played Johnny Cakes killed himself back in '08. He wasn't by any means a central player, but it's still a shame.

You know, I'm trying to remember now if someone posted about that somewhere on the forum because I have a vague recollection of hearing about it. I have immense sympathy and, in some ways, immense admiration for anyone who takes their own life, as it's a desire I've certainly struggled with intensely at times. Yet there's no denying that it's also very, very sad when it happens. I hope his family has come to some kind of peace with it.
