Re: Angie, and her involvement

One of my more unsububstantiated Soprano's theories, dating back to the fifth season, is that Chase is developing a storyline to mimick the well known FBI sting in Brooklyn that brought down one of the families by placing bugs in their cars, with Angie Bumpensiero as the co-operator. The evidence is admittedly rather slight: her obvious motive and a couple questionable scenes (most notably the one in Marco Polo (?), where it would appear she tries to elicit info from Tony about the "other" operations he carries out from the garage: watch carefully both peoples' reactions.) But adding to it after the last episode is the delivery of the fish to the table by Artie, which directly mimics the shot of Tony's last dinner with Big Pussy when he is starting to realize Pussy is a rat...

Again, just idle speculation on another way they could be developing her character.

I'm not sure what's going to happen (obviously), but I think Angie trying to pull one over on Tony and the gang isn't far off... I don't know that I'd expect her to actually bring down the family, but she may try... The fish Artie brings to the table reminded me of Pussy as the talking fish from Tony's dreams... If she does pull something I imagine Tony will be arranging a trip for her to go see her husband.

I thought it was funny that Ro (out of all people) also seemed a bit jealous of Angie's new business dealings. It was Ro who was involved with the old boss, but afterwards as well w/ Ralphie. And even with her son becoming a victim of that sort of life, it appeared as if she still longed to be part of it all. That same "pull" was Carmela's solution in efforts to salvage her spec project, in that Tony's connection could save her much $$$$ and hassle.

It looks like Angie has made the body shop a success in more ways than one!

Carmella felt awkward when she walked in on Angie's meeting because she is humbled by Angie's success and independence.

Carm can't even get her house built without Tony's help every step of the way. Let's see, Tony provides the money for the house and influence with local officials; Daddy provides the knowledge of the trades and general contracting; and Carmella provides the bitching and the moaning. Then she sees Angie actively and successfully engaged in a very tough business, forcing Carm to face her utter dependence on the men in her life. She likes to think she is so smart! Reality is eating away at her verneer. Angie is tougher and more independent; Meadow is smarter and much better educated; Gab and Ro are more street-wise and comfortable in their lives.

Here is a question. Who is Angie kicking up to? This thing is a pyramid! Since time immemorial! She better be paying somebody or she will need some body work of her own!

I noticed the jealousy when Carmela asked Angie if she bought the Corvette herself. When Angie told Carm her accountant said it would be best to own the car outright, Carmela was speechless.

Angie looks a hell of a lot better than the last time we saw her when she was frazzled dealing with Phil L. She looks so polished and in charge.

I really don't think that Carmela is "jealous" of Ang. Sure she'd like to have a little more dispensible income of her own, but does she really want to run her own business? No. The spec house is just a project. And as for Ang being in control of a "tough business"--a body shop? Tough business? Compared to what, a neighborhood kid cutting grass for spare change?

I think that Carm and Ro are kind of shocked in a way with Angie. They were supposed to be the wives, not the co-conspiritors.
