Buscemi directed tonight's episode. And now you can say he has directed the best Sopranos episode ever - Pine Barrens - and now maybe the worst. What do you all think? I LOVED Pine Barrens and during tonight's episode I was actually bored for the first time ever watching Sopranos.

Re: Steve Buscemi
3When there is a bad episode the only one to blame is Chase, and to some extent the writer. Chase lays out the outline for the episode, the writer writes it and the director puts it together. Buscemi just directs what he gets.

Re: Steve Buscemi
4Steve Buscemi is not to blame for tonights episode. The blame rest entirely with the writers. As a director its hard to make sh-- smell like roses. Lets face it this episode was sh--.

6I didn't think tonights episode was as bad as some people are making it sound.
Way better then last weeks episode.

Re: Steve Buscemi
7Believe it or not I actually think I like the overplayed Carm/ Wegler and Tony B/ Kim episode last week than this one. I keep waiting for the payoff. Im still enjoying watching this every week and I will not stop but this whole season has not been that great yet. They are not finishing up storylines and its frustrating the hell out of me. Every week it something new that seems to get wrapped up that episode. Im hoping for a slow build to a big payoff......

Re: Steve Buscemi
8Back in season 3, Buscemi had his pick of episodes to direct. But now that he's acting, his choice of episodes was probably restricted to episodes where the writers featured other characters.

Re: Steve Buscemi
9A huge payoff has to come by the end of the season. The way things are escalating with Johnny Sack and Lil' Carmine, and now the growing animosity between Tony and NY, we're headed for something big.
I think we may see the first large scale mob war since the end of season one, when Tony and Junior were going at it. It will most likely also be set up for the final season, as well.

About Buscemi
10
Quote:
from the moment i found out steve buscemi was going to join the cast for the fifth season of sopranos, i was praying he'd be like his charactor in Fargo...

Now wouldn't that have been a "surprise"? Tony B is a lot more complex a character than Richie or someone like that. It would've been a travesty to make him a regular psycho.
