I just saw an episode of Law & Order where his character (Det. Falco) wakes to find a dead woman in his apartment and no memory of the past 10 hours.
I posted this thread in case anyone else enjoys his work in L&O and wants to discuss it.
I've never seen him play a character that seems very different from the look and feel of Christopher, but he certainly does a good job in the acting department on this show. I guess some actors can seem to disappear in a role (like Meryl Streep, John Malkovich and Kevin Spacey) while others are always recognizable as themselves (like Jack) but have enough acting talent to be able to play different roles and appear believable.
I'm trying to say that I thought he did a fine job and I'm confused as to whether he is slated to take over from Det. Green and will be the new regular cop on L&O or if he just appeared in a few episodes and is now on the way out.
Does anyone know?

Re: Michael Imperioli in Law & Order
2I didn't watch all of the "Law and Order " episode
with Michael Imperioli as Det. Falco. I'm not a fan
of these prosecutorial and forensic crime programs,
including CSI, etc. But why is Imperioli's last name
in L&O FALCO, as in Edie Falco, who plays Carmela
on "The Sopranos?"
This is as strange bedfellas-enmeshed, in TV land's
predictable spates of rip-offs, as Meredith's new
veterinarian boyfriend being named Finn on
"Grey's Anatomy."
Imperioli will probably be whacked from "The Sopranos,"
as was Adriana, to become a mainstay on "Law and
Order." Ho-hummmm....

Re: Michael Imperioli in Law & Order
3<hr />There certainly did seem to be something strange going on.
At one time, I had thought that MI was taking over for Det. Green who got shot on the job. But in the last episode I saw (which I believe is the most current), Det. Green was back on the job and it appeared to be questionable which actors would be the permanent cops and what would become of MI's character on the show.
I was pretty confused by those happenings. The one thing that might help was that they announced the next episode was an "all new" episode. So, perhaps it will become more clear after then.

Re: Michael Imperioli in Law & Order
4I have a feeling that Michael is planting the seeds of opportunity for the future. Filming the final season of the Sopranos commences next month, and will be over all too quickly. I'm wondering if there could be a new series from Dick Wolf in the works, perhaps with Michael in the lead? That would be a smart thing to try; L&O can't last forever.
I thought he did a first-rate job. He is kind of hemmed in as an actor, with his strong NY/NJ accent. But he could play any kind of law enforcement/firefighter type role, and probably some others I can't think of right now.
