there was a succession of scenes i found somewhat meaningful in this episode. Melfi ends her therapy with Tony, and this scene is followed immediately by the botched attempt on Phil's life. what causes this hit to fail? the father of the mistress has an uncanny resemblance to Phil, which implies an Electra complex. this seems like it was intentionally written as kind of a meta-farewell to Dr. Melfi and her Freudian psychology, and worked into the endgame of the show's mafia plotline.
