Given the murder at the beginning of the episode, the probable death of Sil and Johnny Sac's death, white shoes appear to mean death. Paulie wears the same type of white shoes although he was spared in "Remember When". Will the white shoes of death bring the grim reaper to Paulie's door next week?
I don't recall Phil wearing these sort of white shoes.
Re: White Shoes of death?
2I immediately associated those shoes with Paulie. And it really did make me wonder if there is a Paulie connection to NY.
I hope NOT. But if there is, it would not be the first time.

3WHITE SHOES?! What is it with them? That's all Paulie packed in "Remember When". Johnny Sack liked 'em all clean on his deathbed. Ritchie Aprile & Feech LaManna wore them. And I saw a couple pair of 'em tonight...
Are they of some significance or my initial assessment; White shoes are worn by the "old school" gangsters in some kind of holdover from the '70's?

Re: White Shoes of death?
4I don't think they are supposed to be a clue, like a Beatles clue about Paul McC being dead with hands over his head. I think Mafiaphile is more on track - they are a symbol of how the old timers dress, getting past their due date. Both crews are dated.
Re: White Shoes of death?
5I think the white shoes are just an Italian thing, when they are going to a warm climate. (was Sil about to hightail it down to FLA for a while?) I remember my uncle wearing them when he took me and my cousins to Disney World when we were kids, back in the late 70's. I wouldn't read too much into it.
