Default The number 3

Ok over the last 24 hours I have read numerous posts where it was identified that the numer 3 plays a part in the last episode. I forget most of the references but i think i made an interestng connection that helps me see the last scene differently. A set of cues about Tony dying having to do with three. Here we go.
1.Tony sits and gets three cokes.
2.Meadow tries parking three times.
3.Flips through music three times
4.Tony, Carmela, and Anthony sit together as 3
5.All eating onion ring
6.Meadow enters on the third bell ring
7.Tony is killed as the third person in the NY Assisinations
Maybe? Bobby, Sil, Tony? One hole in it is that Sil doesn't die.........But maybe Phil is the 2nd person........
Hmmmmmm....
Another needle?
Or just more straw?
I could care less but it struck me as something

Just wanted to add that the purpose of this post was to explore anyone elses connections to the number 3. It makes me feel that Tony does get whacked!

Alright, following this theory I proposed I think I might have discovered a little something. What if.........
The Last 3 Episodes are meant to be all just one movie. If you look back at earlier posts starting from "The Second COming" up to MIA, you see the arc of the triology starting. I encourage everyone to watch the three episodes in a row then go back in this chat room and look at the different posts about meanings. Their are too many posts that seem to get at something common. Almost reads like prophecy at times. You can see an arc of a story Or spiral, or circle, etc etc........ The final story. Tonys death....... The end..
Remember the Yeats poem

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in the sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
Surely some revelation is at hand;

This comes from the first chapter. It sounds different to me now considering the ending. I think now looking at this poem, you can see the storyline unfold almost chronologcally in the last three shows. My opinion is this;
I believe the answer to what finally happens at the end is revealed in the last three shows with the answer IMO being Tony gets whacked. Please look at it for yourself. I have the benefit of having these episodes backup copied onto dvd so i have watched them this way and it works in an eerie and almost obvious way.Maybe thats what DC means with his quote about IT being there. In all the previous seasons, and i might be wrong on this, I dont remember there ever being three shows in a row that have so much continuity with each other. Possibly another nod to the other great triology (GFIII). I think the answers are in the last three shows. Just my crazy late night theory.............. whadda think?

This whole 3 Bells things would be interesting if it were true. But if you listen again, you'll note that Meadow actually enters on the fifth (or even sixth) bell ring. Only if you start counting when Carmela comes in, do we get to three. There are at least two earlier rings, however, after Tony sits down. And the door is opened a few other times without an audible bell ring. As much as people have analyzed the ending, it is surprising this "three bells" mentions persist.

I still think that the last three episodes play out like a three part play about the final death of Tony Soprano. I think its part of what chase is calling "IT". There are so many allusions to Tony dying in the last three episodes. I will try to post more specifics.

The onion ring symbolism is not just for the Eucharist (communion), but specifically a Viaticum which is the Eucharist given to a "dying person".

Viaticum means "Provisions for a journey". The juke box is playing Journey. This is no accident...

Default The Number "3"

Hello, I'm new here. In the final episode, did anyone else notice all the references to the number "3".

1) The guy with the the "3" boyscouts at the table who was shown multiple times in the final scene (and the guy was pointing at one of the kids but his hand was in the form of a shooting gun and he appeared to fake shoot the kid "3" times.

2) the guy with the USA hat who was also shown a few times had coffee handed to him by a waitress -- and there were "3" little creamers lined up neatly on the saucer dish.

3) The scene in the diner where Tony, A.J. and Carmela each put a whole onion ring in their mouth -- "3" total.

4) Only "3" of the Soprano's were seated at the table in the diner table when the scene cut to black.

5) Cut to black also occurred as (I assume) the "3rd" member of Tony's immediate family (Mead) entered the diner.

6) If tony was wacked (who really knows...) it would have been the "3rd" time someone/people actually tried to kill him, e.g., season 1 by the two black guys, season 5 by Junior, and at the diner (if that is what happened...again, who knows?).

7) Phil decided to wack the top "3" in the soprano family. Tony would have been the "3rd" attempted wack in accordance with that plan, which was hatched by Phil and his top two family members (which of course equals "3").

Maybe the symbolyism is 3rd strike and your out? 3rd attempt on Tony's life (if that is what the cut to black symbolized) is his 3rd strike. Who knows. I just don't believe in conincidences, especially in a show where every detail is carefully scripted and thought out.
